Dear TTR Members,

As you may be aware, TTR has been working on and supporting initiatives to understand the effects of residential schools on our community.

Considering the importance of this topic and the results of previous programs, TTR has applied for funding under the Residential Schools Missing Children Community Support Funding to support a new research/engagement initiative TTR Seeking to Locate, Acknowledge and Remember Our Missing Children to:

  • Accurately identify members who attended residential schools based on official data.
  • Reduce the gap of information and build awareness.
  • Create a Special Committee to Assist with the Coordination of this new initiative.
  • Create a regional network to foster collaboration, awareness, and empowerment with other First Nations in our area.
  • Support archival research for members seeking closure.
  • Conduct knowledge gatherings in the community.
  • Create and maintain a Survivors and Missing Children database.
  • Host community engagement sessions.
  • Develop protocols for cultural and traditional knowledge.

TTR Members will be invited to participate in community gatherings and Safe Interviews to follow up on their archival research processes.

Our Committee will be meeting in a regularly basis to coordinate activities, discuss advances and oversees program action plan.

In the meantime, we invite you review the resources available in this section to learn about the process of accessing to survivors records and our internal database (under continues development).

Miigwech,

Don Clarke
Project Manager
